Why most Raycast setups fade

Knowing a feature isn't the same as using it.

  • The fourth time today you type your email address.
  • The mouse trip to the Dock for an app you open 30 times a day.
  • Dragging two windows side by side. Again.

I gave myself 12 hours, on camera, to make Raycast beat my normal workflow by one minute. By the end I had everything set up: hotkeys, snippets, Quicklinks, window layouts. Then I ran the same workflow again, and I was slower.

The setup wasn't the problem. My hands still went to the Dock. That's why most Raycast setups fade within a week, and it's the one problem this program is built to solve.

How it sticks

One new move a day. One old habit gone.

1One new move a day

Twelve days, 5–15 minutes each. Small enough to actually do, and used all day until it's automatic.

2The old way gets removed

Every day takes away the habit the new move replaces. Day 1: hide the Dock and open every app with one key.

3Only moves you'll repeat

You start from my working setup, then keep the moves that match what you do every day. Nothing you'd never use gets practised.

  1. First 30 minA setup that worksHyper Key on, your apps on one key, clipboard history ready.
  2. Day 1The Dock disappearsYou open every app with one key, all day.
  3. Day 6–7No more retypingEmails, replies and AI prompts become three-letter snippets.
  4. Day 8–10Every page one alias awaySearch any site from Raycast. Windows snap from the keyboard.
  5. Day 12AutomaticYou're the one who does in two keys what takes everyone else a minute.

You don't need another Raycast tutorial.

“Read the tier list. Steal my setup. Do the 12 days. Ignore everything else.”

That's the whole program.

What you get

Everything it takes to make it automatic.

1The core

The 12-Day Challenge.

This is the part that makes it stick. One move a day, one old habit removed a day, with reminders at the moment you'd normally reach for the mouse.

  • 12 short daily tasks, 5–15 minutes each
  • A daily email and calendar reminders, so you never lose the thread
  • Cheat sheets for Mac and Windows to keep next to your keyboard
The 12-Day Challenge book, the day calendar on a tablet and a reminder on a phone
2Start tonight

A setup that already works.

Habits need something to practise. Import mine and start the Challenge tonight instead of spending a weekend configuring.

  • Running in about 30 minutes with the Starter Setup checklist
  • 37 snippets and 34 Quicklinks, ready to import and rename
The Steal-My-Setup Kit: a hardcover, Raycast snippets on a tablet and Quicklinks on a phone
3Focus

Only the moves worth making automatic.

You can't turn 50 features into habits. I tested them for 12 hours and gave each a verdict, so you practise the ones that change your day.

  • A tier verdict, S to F, for every level, with my real before and after times
  • "When you catch yourself… do this instead" triggers for the moment it matters

4Make it yours

Habits built on what you repeat.

A move only becomes automatic if you need it every day. The workbook helps you find the tasks you actually repeat and turn those into shortcuts.

  • A repetition map: "I keep…" → the move that replaces it
  • An optional progress test: design your own, or pick one of 7 templates, and watch your time drop

Is it for you?

Built for one kind of Raycast user.

For you if

  • You installed Raycast and mostly use it to open apps.
  • You set up shortcuts before, and forgot them a week later.
  • You can spare 5–15 minutes a day for 12 days.

Not for you if

  • You already live in a custom Raycast setup all day.
  • You want a video course. This is PDFs and files you use beside Raycast.
  • You want it done for you. The moves stick because you do them.

Questions

Before you start

I already use Raycast. Is this for me?

If you mostly use it to open apps, yes: that's exactly who it's for. If you already live in a custom Raycast setup all day, you'll know a lot of it.

How much time does it take?

About 30 minutes to set up (shorter than one YouTube rabbit hole), then 5–15 minutes a day for 12 days. You'll feel the first change the same evening.

Does it work on Windows?

Yes, for the most part. Raycast for Windows covers the core of the program: the Hyper Key, clipboard history, snippets, Quicklinks, window management and file search. It was written and tested on a Mac, so you also get a Windows cheat sheet, and anything Mac-only is marked (like Search Menu Items and the 5 included scripts).

Do I need Raycast Pro, or to code?

No and no. Almost everything works on free Raycast, and Pro-only features are marked. The scripts each have a "change these lines" block, and the Prompt Pack gets AI to write new ones.

Do I have to time myself?

No. The timed progress test is optional, for people who like seeing progress as a number. The 12 days work the same without it.

What format is it?

PDFs, importable snippet and Quicklink files, script files, 12 emails and a calendar file with reminders, all from one page. It's not a video course, on purpose: you read one page, then do the move in Raycast yourself. Watching someone else do it doesn't build the habit.

What happens after I pay?

You're taken straight to your welcome page: every file ready to download, a short plan for your first two days, and a box to start the 12 daily emails. Bookmark it so you can always get back. Day 1 arrives a few minutes after you sign up. Stuck? Email rayen@the-control-panel.com.

Can I get a refund?

Everything is a digital download you keep, so sales are final. Before you buy, look through the real pages above, or try the free 10-Minute Speed Test. If a file is broken or you can't get access and I can't fix it within 7 days, you get your money back. Full details in the refund policy.

Make itsecond nature.

A month from now you'll either still be clicking the Dock, or you won't think about it anymore.
